Our customer – a world leading company in the defence industry - was faced with an insoluble problem – how to absorb a 500G shock in 6 ms of an embedded electronic box.

The other problem was that the remaining budget had been depleted due to countless failed attempts.

Desiging new materials

In consideration of the really low budget, the team accepted this challenge provided they could have an interest in resulting innovations.

Many ideas were put forward and finally, just one was selected: putting gel in a case around the equipment. What gel? What case?

The team conducted research efforts and performed tests on many materials, and eventually selected three of them.

After this challenge had been successfully handled, our customer became the exclusive owner of an absorbing module giving this company a competitive edge for more than 10 years. Our team, duly assuming their confidentiality duty, still treat the company’s projects in strict secrecy.
